Photo Buzz: Murphy, Idaho National Hare and Hound

Round three of the 2017 AMA National Hare and Hound series took place in Murphy, Idaho and the Dirt Inc. crew laid out one amazing course. Two loops, consisting a 62 mile first and 56 mile second, made for 118 miles in the saddle and a finish time that ended up being around 3 hours and 15 minutes for the leaders.

After winning a close battle with Taylor Robert at round one of the NHHA series, and finishing second to Gary Sutherlin at round two, Ricky Brabec came into the Idaho round ready to win. Brabec spent the week leading up to the Idaho NHHA event racing the Sonora Rally in Mexico (which he won and where ex pro MX'er Andrew Short finished third) and then hopped on a helicopter and crossed the border back into California to Palm Springs so he could catch a flight to Idaho.

When the flagged dropped it was Gary Sutherlin with the lead at the bomb, which he carried throughout loop one. Brabec followed closely in second, with Jacob Argubright another few seconds back in third. The second loop quickly turned into a two-rider battle as Sutherlin and Brabec swapped the lead multiple times. As the race wound down, the temperature began to plummet, a light rain began and heavy winds kicked up. As the first rider came into view it was Brabec in the lead and win with about 30 seconds to spare over Gary Sutherlin. Nick Burson rounded out the podium in third, followed by local boy David Kamo in fourth and Jacob Argubright in fifth.
