A big thanks to a buddy of ours from SoCal who sent us this beer from Mammoth Brewing Company to enjoy over the holidays. And enjoy we did. Lair of the Bear is one bear of a beer with respect to strength and flavor; packing a hefty 9.50% ABV and a seriously booze-absorbed taste hit. If you’re a fan of barrel-aged beers, then you’ll love Lair of the Bear, as it has been matured in a combination of Heaven Hill, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam and Four Roses bourbon barrels for up to eleven months, something we could definitely detect in the taste. So if you live in the L.A. area and get up to Mammoth Lakes on occasion, be sure to look up Mammoth Brewing while you are there. If Lair of the Bear is any indication of how their other beers taste, then you’re in for a treat.
